A FOCUS ON CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
Highland uses several different areas of feedback that help drive decisions for improvement. One of those areas is data. Attached here is a sheet of data that Highland keeps and reviews regularly to identify areas that need focus for improvement. Please reach out to Principal Wallace if there is an area of data that you think would be beneficial for the school to collect that could impact improvement. To review all the data, please click on the different tabs provided.

Highland also has a Parent Advisory Group that meets once a month to help drive improvement. This group starts meeting today. The agenda and minutes from this team are found in a link to the right under the heading Highland Parent Advisory Group Agenda/Minutes.

Highland also has a Building Leadership Team. This team is made up of the schools department chairs, some additional teachers, counselors, media specialist, student leadership advisor, and school administration. This team also meets monthly and the agenda and minutes from their meeting along with members of the team can be found in the following links found in the right column of this newsletter:

HOMECOMING WEEK NEXT WEEK 9/16-9/21/24
Next week is Homecoming Week! Student Leadership has planned a fun filled week. Here is a calendar with what is planned.

=========================================================================
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Each week we will pose some common challenges and questions we face with attendance and provide answers.

This week we will examine attendance at other buildings or in other programs outside of Highland High School.

Attendance for students who travel to Calvary Chapel for Band, Orchestra, or Choir is taken and recorded by Highland High School. Attendance for students who travel to ISU, PV-TEC, or even Seminary are not taken nor recorded by Highland High School. Each of those organizations keeps their own attendance records. These organizations are separate from Highland High School. For questions about attendance at ISU, PV-TEC, or Seminary, you must contact those organizations directly. Highland cannot help with attendance at those facilities.

DEMOLITION/PREPARATION FOR REBUILD
They are starting demolition of the remaining parts of the school that were impacted by the fire including the old wrestling room and welding shop. Students who are walking by the north parking lot, by the Tennis Courts to the bus stop, to Gateway building, or crossing the street to Seminary, please, be alert and careful. A dump truck full of debris cannot stop on a dime. If you see it coming, please let it pass before continuing along or crossing the street. Please stay safe.

Our amazing school board of trustees and district administration have been hard at work along with a committee of administrators, teachers, Highland parents, and community members in planning and designing the rebuild of the parts of Highland High School that was burned down. The goal is that the new areas for rebuild will be opened for the 2027-28 school year. Please contact Principal Wallace with any questions or concerns.
